After: Myron
The Discus Thrower (Discobolus), Late 19th Century
Bronze Sculpture
10 x 6 x 3.50 in
$636
This statue came to us as part of a group of statues purchased by a European traveler taking the continental "tour" many did as a rite of passage in the late 19th century, bringing home with them items such as these from their stops in Greece, Italy, etc. This is a diminutive version of one of the world's best-known sculptures, Myron's "Discobolus" known to us through Roman copies. Stands around 10" tall. Great condition. Proudly presented by Guy Lyman Fine Art, New Orleans.
