A charming solid cast bronze sculpture of a girl combing tangles out of her hair, by internationally-renowned bronze sculptor Desmond Fountain. Signed on bottom. Fountain won his first award for art in an adult competition at the age of only 6 - he was a true prodigy. His work is in collections all over the world now. The sculpture comes with a fine hardcover monograph about his work, signed by the artist, with extensive descriptions by the artist about his work and process. He made many life-size bronzes (one is pictured), as well as smaller pieces such as this one. This does not appear to be a maquette for a larger piece, but intended for this size. Casting bronze is of course extremely tedious and expensive. Heavy and solid. with a beautiful patina. It came out of the collection of Judge Martin Feldman of New Orleans, so it has a fine provenance. And so delightful to look at - absolutely charming. If you have ever raised a girl (I've had 3) you'll know this "detangling" process well!
