A lovely, serene 1934 lake scene by Vermont painter Frederick Wilder. He captures the smoky purples, blues and greens at the edge of the forest with perfection. Oil on canvas, unstretched but backed by corrugated paperboard and in a simple frame. If it were me, I'd buy this inexpensively (as it is priced) and hang it just like it is, without bothering to have it stretched and put in a fancier frame - after all, who cares about the back. This being said, it is of a quality that would certainly justify the usual stretching and framing.
