An exquisite portrait of a 19th-c. Roma peasant girl observing two rabbits. The Roma were (and still are) gypsies, known for their colorful, very mobile lifestyle - as celebrated in the world's most popular opera, "Carmen." Fantastic detail here for a notoriously difficult medium (watercolor). Signed at bottom. Dimensions given are with frame; dimensions without frame are 14.5" x 10.5".
