Otis Pierce Cook, Jr.
A charming port scene by famous and super highly-listed Massachusetts painter Otis Pierce Cook. He is best known for these nautical and port scenes, so this is very typical of his work. I have included his two most recent auction records so you can see that his work is quite sought after (and remember, auction prices are wholesale, the lowest they get, and tax is added later). The picture is 10" x 12" without the frame. Here is information about Cook pulled from AskArt: "Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Otis Cook settled in Rockport. He studied at the Swain School of Design in New Bedford and with Emil Gruppe in Gloucester. He was active in the North Shore Art Association, the Guild of Boston Artists, and the Boston Society." Source: Peter Falk, "Who Was Who in American Art" --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Otis Cook was born in Bedford, Mass. Member of the Guild of Boston Artists. Rockport Art Association. North Shore Arts Association, Academic Artists of Springfield, Independent Artists of Boston, and Longboat Key Art Center, Longboat Key, Florida. He has won several awards at the Jordan Marsh Exhibit as well as at the Rockport Art Association and Springfield Academic Artists, and others." "Artists of the Rockport Art Association.
