One of two framed companion paintings we have (the other is called "Les Amants") -- a lovely turn-of-the-century French painting of a young lady promenading with her new hat, by French artist L. B. Carayon, rendered in either gouache or oil wash and graphite on paper. Signed and dated 1906. You can see lots of influence from artists by then celebrated in France -- Toulouse-Lautrec in particular. Provenance: Redfearn Gallery, London, January 1955, where purchased by Dr. Leonard Simpson. 20.5" x 16.5" matted and framed, 13" x 10" unframed.
