John Clymer
Impressionist Lake Scene, Mid-20th Century
Oil Paint
13.50 x 15.50 in
SOLD
A sweet Impressionist lake scene showing a small village perched on the edge of a lake. If you look closely at the impasto brush strokes, you will see the masterful mixing of colors originally engineered by the Impressionists to give the "impression" of the effects of light. The painting itself is 8" x 10", but it comes in an elaborate gilded wood frame that give it more presence at 13" x 15". You might want to look at my other listing by Clymer, which is a fine match for this one - the two together would look great, and in fact I believe they were probably hanging together with the original owner. From AskArt: "Clymer was born in Brighton, England in 1932. He was trained at the Royal Academy. In recent years, he has become recognized in England, the Continent and the USA for his skill in creating impressionist landscapes and coastal scenes."
