This is a tall, elegant, exquisite hand-blown vase, signed (engraved) and dated at the bottom, created by the now-famous Australian glass-blower Ben Edols, whose work is in important collections and institutions around the world. We have two significant pieces (you can find the other on this site as well - the other was done in association with his frequent partner, Kathy Elliot). These vases unexpectedly showed up here in New Orleans and we grabbed them immediately. This one features an intricate lacework pattern, as you can see in the close-up. We can provide you further photos if you have a serious interest.

Ben Edols began working in glass in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Sydney College of the Arts before completing a postgraduate diploma at the Canberra School of Art in 1992. His practice has taken him abroad to collaborate with fellow artists and makers in the United States, Italy, and Japan. He has also taught glassblowing workshops at major institutions including Pilchuck Glass School, The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, the Toyama Institute of Glass Art, Niijima Glass Centre, The Jam Factory, and Sydney College of the Arts. His sculptural glass has attracted international attention and has been exhibited in Australia, Japan, the United States, Germany, England, and Italy.
