As a painter myself, I have never understood how hyper-realist painters have the patience and skill to do what they do. At any rate, here's one of the best, a classic "trompe l'oeuil" painting. Not only is the masking tape here painted (complete with transparency and shadow), but what appears to be burlap or silk backing behind the "photo" is also painted. In other words, everything you see but the black frame is oil paint! And who doesn't like a luscious grapefruit, anyway; this one's so realistic you can taste it.
11" x 13" with frame, 8" x 10" without.
