An antique painting in elaborate gold-leafed frame of fishing boats on a choppy day, with a lighthouse visible on a point of land in the distance. Superb details and wonderful treatment of chops and swells, and subtle shifts in color as the light plays on the ocean water. Gulls follow the fleet as they often do, looking for offered scraps. This oil painting is painted on a wood panel. The dimensions of the panel itself is 16" x 24." Frame is sensational. I could not find a signature and did not want to disassemble the inner portion of the frame to look for one, so I do not know who this talented painter was.
