Constanta Crisan (Cubist) "Mandolins", 1990-1999
20 x 16.50 in
A crisp Cubist composition by Rumanian painter Constanta Crisan, undated but likely painted in the 1990’s. Wonderful earthy colors, with a classic subject for Cubism (stringed instruments) that goes all the way back to the movement’s origins; in fact, this could pass for a painting from the early 20th century. Crisan created a whole series of Cubist paintings based on mandolins, in fact. Framed in a rich gold frame. Size with frame is 20” x 16.5 inches, canvas only is 14” x 11”.
