Adolph Muller-Grantzow (1853 - 1922) studied under Wilhelm von Diez at the Munich Academy. He painted fine genre scenes, one of which sold at auction for over $16,000 in 2013. This moving watercolor (or ink wash) depicts Christ being taken from the cross and prepared for burial. The brush strokes are deft and sure, as is the depiction of Christ's limp body framed between four assisting figures. Drawing will be shipped in mat and frame without glass, mostly for the sake of protection; the frame is not in great shape and you might want to replace it. Being sold as "unframed."
