There are so many things I like about this painting, and I'm not even a racing fan. I tried to research the painter, but I could find only one listed artist with the same last name, and while the style isn't far off, the signature is different. At any rate, here are some of the reasons I like it so much: the color choices (that sole lavender horse in particular - perfect); the forms of the horses, distorted purposefully in service of the overall structure; the numbers on the jockeys' jackets, which gives it a sort of Cubist reference. Really striking, a delight to look at.
