An old master sketch page, almost certainly done in preparation for a painting, from either the 1600's or 1700's, with penultimate skill and refinement. We in America don't have access to very much really old art, so it absolutely stands out in any collection. Drawn on the "blue laid paper" of the time. I have not explored the watermark and whatever it might add to the picture. This came from an art and antiques market in southern France, near the Italian border. With its deckled edged, it would look stunning in a "float" frame that shows off the edges. In fine condition.
